Walmart is America's largest retailer with thousands of stores nationwide. Walmart sells hunting rifles, shotguns and hunting ammunition at select stores only; it stopped selling AR-style rifles in 2015 and ended handgun and handgun-ammunition sales in 2019. Many stores still hold a Federal Firearms License, so a Walmart listed here is not guaranteed to stock firearms. Call ahead to confirm before you visit.

Walmart FFL Transfer Fee
Walmart does not accept FFL transfers and does not sell handguns. If you are buying online, choose an independent FFL dealer near you instead: our FFL transfer directory lists dealers by city, and the transfer fee guide explains what to expect.
When picking up a transfer or buying at Walmart, you'll complete a NICS background check and ATF Form 4473. The process typically takes 10-30 minutes, though delays can occur. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID and know your local Walmart gun policy regarding age requirements and purchase limits.
